While catalysts reduce the activation energy required for chemical reactions, many catalytic processes lack sufficient selectivity, rely on large quantities of precious metals, and are powered by fossil fuels, limiting their long-term sustainability. To address these limitations, my research explores plasmon resonance–assisted catalysis for fundamental reactions such as CO oxidation, propane dehydrogenation, and methane oxidation over AgAu-based catalysts. This work is part of a larger collaboration with AMOLF and industrial partners, aiming to understand how light-assisted catalysis could be implemented in industrial settings.
