The focus of Daan’s project is the (further) development of Luminescence Thermometry and shell-isolated nanoparticle enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SHINERS), ultimately leading to a widely applicable analytical toolset for operando spectroscopy in catalytic reactions. Using these techniques, we aim to study the oxidative coupling of methane and the dehydrogenation of propane in order to gain detailed insight into the mechanisms involved, thereby understanding the relations between structure, activity, selectivity and reactor bed temperature.
