We congratulate Mariangela Biggiero on receiving the best poster prize at the Electrochemistry National Symposium for her poster “Development of in situ ATR-IR spectroscopy for interfacial characterization of industrial catalysts and binders during CO2 electroreduction”.
This this poster, Mariangela presented an in situ Attenuated Total Reflectance Infrared (ATR-IR) spectroscopy approach that bridges fundamental characterization techniques with materials and catalysts relevant to industrial applications. While ATR-IR has traditionally been applied to idealized metal films, this study demonstrates its use directly on carbon-supported industrial catalyst layers and binders. This represents a key step toward real-world relevance, enabling insights into reaction pathways, surface species, and interfacial effects under realistic electrochemical conditions.
