We congratulate Sebastian Rejman on receiving the RSC poster award for his poster “Executable Manuscripts as Jupyter Notebooks: The Next Evolution in Scientific Publishing?” at the NCCC 2025 conference.

In this poster, Sebastian commented on the future of scientific publications and methods to make the executable. according to Sebastian, the scientific paper we know today is largely a static document. Yet, cheap storage and computational resources call for a rethinking whether this is the best way to publish scientific results. Executable manuscripts in the form of Jupyter Notebooks combine the raw data measured, analysis code and the actual text of the publication. They enable the highest degree of transparency in data processing, and allow for the data and analysis code to be repurposed.
