Highly a- and b-oriented, purely siliceous zeolite membranes have been studied in the past decade for the application as chemical sensors and separation membranes. In the present project, we are going to develop highly a- and b-oriented zeolite membranes with tunable Al incorporation that introduces the Brønsted acid site for catalysis as well as adjusts the wettability for separation. Using the unique system with preferential orientation, catalytic behaviors and reaction kinetics in single zeolite channels can be monitored by advanced techniques, such as single molecular fluorescence, operando UV-Vis spectroscopy and nano-infrared spectroscopy.
